Welcome to the Coweta County
School System. As the
Superintendent, and as a 20-year
Coweta County educator, I am
honored to be a part of our
school system. Those of us
serving our students today are
carrying the torch of service
behind many great lifetime
Coweta County educators who
still reside and serve in our
community. Among the many
highlights of our local
community is a progressive
school system characterized by a
strong Board of Education,
dedicated employees, and
meaningful stakeholder
involvement. For many years our
community has taken pride in the
traditions of excellence that
enable our students to excel
during their educational
experiences in the school
system, and then become leaders
within our community for future
generations. We believe the
educational process is a
community effort. Through strong
partnerships with our local
Chamber of Commerce, local
governments, business owners,
and community organizations, the
best interests of our students
and of our community are served. |
Setting the tone through collective
leadership is our local Board of
Education, comprised of a dedicated
group of seven citizens who give of
their time, energy and expertise in
order to oversee the important work of
setting the direction and the policies
necessary for successful governance. As
one of the first school boards to seek
and receive district-wide accreditation,
our local Board of Education continues
to hold itself and our school system
accountable for high expectations and
high levels of service.
As you participate in our school system,
you will be among many state and
nationally recognized leaders in their
respective fields. Coweta County has had
three Georgia Teachers of the Year, a
recent Georgia Principal of the Year,
and numerous honors from organizations
such as the Georgia School Board
Association (GSBA), Georgia Association
of Middle School Principals (GAMSP), and
the Georgia Association of Educational
Leaders (GAEL). Our Central Educational
Center, serving our high school
students, has been recognized as a
National Model High School. It has also
been a model for Georgia’s Career
Academies and has been recognized by Lt.
Governor Casey Cagle as the best example
that exists today of a meaningful
partnership between business, industry,
the Technical College System of Georgia,
and a local school system. Our Centre
for the Performing and Visual Arts is a
state of the art facility that provides
rich experiences for our students and
our community. Finally, our thirty-one
schools serving students in
pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade
offer a wide variety of academic,
extracurricular, and educational
experiences. Our schools have received
numerous recognitions, including four
Georgia Schools of Excellence in recent
years. Although these accomplishments
are impressive, it is the high
performance of our students that anchors
our school system. I encourage you to
review our system website, as well as
each school’s website, for information
about the outstanding programs being
offered at each of our schools. I am
excited about what is happening in our
school system, and I anticipate great
things to come.
